Sustainable Raw Materials
Industrial Hemp
For thousands of years, hemp fiber has been used to make a variety of commercial and industrial products, including rope, textiles, clothing, shoes, food, paper, and even sail canvas; in fact, the word "canvas" is derived from the word cannabis.

With new advances in technology and the ability to grow industrial hemp economically on a mass scale, today it can be effectively used in a wide array of sustainable products and materials, including building materials such as hemp-based concrete, bioplastics and composite materials, biofuels, and in cutting-edge energy storage applications.
Sustainable Raw Materials

Textiles
Hemp fabric is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics in the world, and is highly durable, lightweight, and absorbent, as well as hypo-allergenic. Once processed into fabric, hemp has a similar texture to linen, and can also be blended with cotton or silk.

Building Materials
Hemp-based concrete is a bio-composite increasingly used in construction and insulation. Often mixed with lime, 'hempcrete' is less brittle than traditional concrete and an effective insulator and moisture regulator, and offers a lightweight, sustainable solution suitable for diverse projects and climates.

Bioplastics & Composite Materials
With a cellulose content of upwards of 70%, low environmental impact, and extremely fast growth, hemp is an ideal material for new generations of sustainable plastics and as a substitute for traditional oil-based products.
And no, it doesn't just come in green.

Energy Storage
New breakthroughs in research on hemp for use in the energy sector have shown hemp's enormous potential in supercapacitors and energy storage, competitive with or even outperforming standard graphene nanosheets according to the U.S. National Institute for Nanotechnology
Industrial hemp has the potential to change the very fabric of our economy —
- no pun intended. More than anything else we grow, industrial hemp has truly transformative power as a sustainable raw material, and new research is always pushing the boundaries of possibility. If you want to discover more, or already have an idea in mind, Res Terrae S.R.L. will be happy to work with our growers and processing partners to explore tailored solutions for the products and markets that you need.

Bio | Organic Certifications
Your Guide to Regulations, Procedures & Compliance
